Republic Day was celebrated with great fervour and enthusiasm at St. Francis’ College .The Chief Guest on the occasion was Mr. V. K. Gupta, IPS (1982). He is presently posted as Chairman cum Managing Director of U.P. Police Housing Corporation with additional charge of Chairman, U.P. Police Recruitment and Promotion Board Lucknow. He was accompanied by the Principal Rev. Fr. Alwyn Moras and the Vice-Principal Fr. Biraj. The Programme began by welcoming the Chief Guest with a floral tribute. The Chief Guest hoisted the National Flag followed by the National Anthem. There was a splendid March Past display by the Student Council and the NCC contingent. Kirti Sahwney and Shrehtha conveyed their Republic Day message in English and Hindi respectively. The College Choir mesmerized the audience with patriotic songs both in English and Hindi. Speaking on the occasion the Chief Guest said that our country is a land of festivals where we celebrate a variety of festivals but today the country is celebrating a national festival where the citizens have been given the right to choose our own rulers. We should contribute in electing our leaders. We must recall the sacrifice of our freedom fighters and express our gratitude for all that they’ve done for our country .We must resolve and pledge not to leave any stone unturned in fulfilling our National interests and make it our priority. He praised the service rendered by our College in shaping the young citizens of our country. Despite various threats the management and faculty still ensure the safety and development of each student. He congratulated the NCC Contingent and Student Council for their splendid March past.
