QUASQUICENTENNIAL THANKSGIVING MASS 2010
Description: 22nd January 2010 is a red letter day in the history of St. Francis’ College for it heralds the quasquicentennial (completion of 125 years) celebrations of this premier institution pledged to the cause of academic excellence and scholastic achievement. The inaugural programme comprised a wide gamut of events that were hosted in an unprecedented atmosphere of festive fervour. The day aptly commenced with the Inter Religious Prayer Service at 9 am. Leading luminaries of distinction, including Sh Nirmal Singh Saini, Principal, Guru Govind Singh Sports College, Lucknow, Maulana Khalid Rashid, Nayab Imam Idgah, Aishbagh, Swami Muktinathanandji, Adhyaksh Ram Krishan Math Lucknow and the Brahm Kumaris graced the august occasion.
These eminent personalities presented a short reading from their respective holy scriptures followed by a brief prayer, as a mark of obeisance to the Almighty. The function was presided over by the Chief Guest Rt. Rev. Dr Gerald John Mathias. A Con-celebrated High Mass was solemnised in his gracious presence. The holy congregation also offered intercessory prayers for the well being of the institution, ex-principals and teachers associated with this college. The ceremony also witnessed the distinguished presence of reputed dignitaries, professionals and other renowned citizens of Lucknow.
The college choir led by Mr Derick Jackson sang special songs and hymns to commemorate the completion of 125 years. The holy mass was followed by a special morning assembly. The students of Saint Francis’ College pledged loyalty to their alma mater. This was followed by the unfurling of the college flag, an enthusiastic presentation of the college anthem and the crucial unveiling of the commemorative plaque by the Chief Guest. Pigeons were let off to reiterate Francis’ commitment to noble cause of peace. Colourful balloons lent a festive appeal to the celebratory occasion. The Bishop gave an inspirational message during the auspicious function.
